These are the weather forecasts for the last week of 2020, an “arctic sweep” that immediately after Christmas will cause a drop in temperatures from the northern part of the peninsula.
Bora and the coming snow
Starting on Christmas Day, cold air from the North Pole will rush into Italy from the Northeast, causing bora gusts of up to 100 km / h.
Climatic conditions will tend to worsen, first in the northeast and then more markedly in the center. The eruption of this cold current will give rise to heavy rains and snowfalls that from Emilia Romagna will fall in patches towards the Center and then on Campania, Calabria and Sicily. Thanks to the sudden drop in temperatures, the snow will gradually fall at lower altitudes and towards the hills or near the plains in Emilia Romagna and above 400 meters in the center.
Ten cm. of snow in Milan and Turin
On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 bad weather will move south with heavy rains in the Marche, Abruzzo and southern regions. Heavy and stormy snow will sweep across the Apennines at mountainous altitudes.
Northern Italy will enjoy three days of respite characterized by the sun but very low temperatures that will drop by more than 10 degrees from Santo Stefano.
The weather will change suddenly from December 28th with the arrival of a new Atlantic disturbance that, given the freezing temperatures, will cause the Name even at low altitudes: in Turin and Milan a thickness of between 5 and 10 centimeters is expected.
