The project “Discounts & Security from 65 years old” was presented last night, Thursday, November 12, a series of measures designed for the elderly in order to protect them and induce them to go shopping in the hours that according to commercial business types are the least crowded. These have been developed at the proposal of the Liguria Region and with the coordination of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce with the collaboration of the Genoa City Council, ASCOM and Confesercenti.
The project foresees a discount operation for people over 65 years of age from Monday to Friday divided as follows: in the hours 13/16 all Ligurian Basko supermarkets and all EKOM and Conad discount stores in Liguria apply a discount of 10 % in the departments of fruits and vegetables and bread; in the same way, all regional fruit and vegetable neighborhood stores apply a 5% discount (those who join the initiative will have the ‘Discounts and Security from 65 years old’); in the time slot 9-11
always from Monday to Friday the local covered markets of Genoa for all food products will apply a discount of at least 5%.
The Genoa City Council makes available to older people who buy at least 20 euros of spending in these protected areas; One hour free parking ticket. Tickets will be delivered to merchants participating in the initiative (participating counters will display the corresponding membership mark with the phrase ‘Discounts and security from 65 years old’). In addition, the Bolzaneto wholesale fruit and vegetable market foresees that only those over 65 can enter between 10 and 11 in the morning.
