MASSA-CARRARA – There are another 755 positive cases of Covid-19, 10 percent of the people under control and two deaths, one in the province of Massa-Carrara, an 89-year-old woman, and the other in the area. The figures are those verified at noon based on requests from the National Civil Protection. Therefore, the number of people still positive at this time rises to 8,515, plus 7.7 percent. Of these, only 359 are still hospitalized (37 more than yesterday), of which 51 are in intensive care (5 more). Others are isolated at home because they have no symptoms or do not need special health care. Since the start of the emergency in February, the total number of coronavirus cases diagnosed in the region has risen to 21,017. Of these, however, 11,315 have recovered meanwhile (53.8% of all cases) – 144 between yesterday and today, plus 1.3% – and 1,187 have died.
Of the 755 new cases today, 3.7 percent more than the previous day, 366 are the cases found in the Central ASL, 256 in the Northwest, 133 in the Southeast. For 731 people, identification was carried out during the follow-up process, while for 24 it was the result of detection activities. The average age is about 44 years (19% are under twenty, 25% between 20 and 39, 30% between 40 and 59, 16% between 60 and 79 years, while the remaining 10% count 80 and more years.
In the last 24 hours, 11,500 swabs were analyzed: 890,317 since February. Subjects examined yesterday, excluding control swabs, 7,525.
Of 21,017 cases diagnosed since February, 5,947 (according to province of residence or domicile) refer to Florence (263 more than yesterday), 1,469 Prato (39 more), 1,436 Pistoia (64 more), 1,787 Massa Carrara (46 more: Carrara 8, Massa 14, Montignoso 2, Aulla 14, Filattiera 1, Fivizzano 6, Pontremoli 1. We remind you that among these new positives there are 22 guests from a RSA from Aulla that we talk about here), 2,464 Lucca (102 more), 2,577 Pisa (80 more), 1,072 Livorno (28 more), 1,952 Arezzo (80 more), 1,018 Siena (44 more), 745 Grosseto (9 more). There are 550 positive cases reported in Tuscany but from residents in other regions.
Tuscany is still confirmed in 10th place in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 564 infected per 100,000 inhabitants (the Italian average is around 632 per 100,000, the figure from yesterday). The notification provinces with the highest rate are Massa-Carrara with 917 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, Lucca with 635, Pisa with 615, the lowest Livorno with 320.
A total of 8,156 people are currently in isolation at their homes, for presenting mild symptoms that do not require hospital treatment or for being asymptomatic (572 more than yesterday, plus 7.5%). This means that about 5% have more prominent symptoms that require hospital care. There are 16,211 (252 more than yesterday, plus 1.6%) people, not ill but also isolated, under active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 6,132, Northwest 6,181, Southeast 3,898).
There are currently 359 people hospitalized in beds dedicated to Covid patients (37 more than yesterday, plus 11.5%): 308 precisely not in intensive care and 51 in intensive care (5 more than yesterday, more 10.9%). Of the 11,315 patients cured since the beginning of the emergency, 386 are clinically so (that is, they no longer have the symptoms of the infection), twenty-eight less than yesterday because in the meantime someone has also recovered from the viral point of view, while than 10,929 more in the last day, plus 1.6%) are so in all aspects, after the double negative swab that certifies the disappearance of the virus.
With the two new deaths, the people who have not achieved it since the beginning of the epidemic amount to 1,187: 430 in Florence, 54 in Prato, 84 in Pistoia, 183 in Massa-Carrara, 149 in Lucca, 100 in Pisa 65 in Livorno, 54 in Arezzo, 33 in Siena and 26 in Grosseto. Nine people died on Tuscan soil but they were residents outside the region.
The Tuscan crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 31.8 per 100,000 inhabitants against 60.3 per 100,000 for the Italian average. Tuscany ranks eleventh in this ranking. Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa-Carrara (93.9 per 100,000), Florence (42.5 per 100,000) and Lucca (38.4 x 100,000), while the lowest is in Grosseto (11.7 per 100,000).
THE SITUATION IN ASL TNO HOSPITALS
Regarding hospitalizations for Covid-19, there are a total of 82 in the USL hospitals of Northwest Tuscany, 9 of which in intensive care. In Livorno hospital 35 patients, of which 26 from Livorno area, 3 from Versilia area, 3 from Lucca area, 2 from the Massa-Carrara area and 1 from the Pisa area. At the Lucca hospital, 28 patients, including 23 from the Lucca territorial area and 5 from the Massa Carrara area. In the Apuane hospital 19 hospitalized, the entire territory of Massa Carrara. Finally, from the daily monitoring throughout the USL of Northwest Tuscany, to date (October 16) there are 6181 (-188) isolated people, under active surveillance, for having had contact with infected people.
