It is a tradition that has been repeated since 80 years and it certainly won’t be Covid to stop it: that of the Vienna New Year’s Concert, performed by Wiener Philarmonike and broadcast, live or delayed, in 95 countries around the world. Of course, for the first time it will be without an audience (ah, how we will miss the classic applause at Radetzky’s march!) But the appointment is confirmed: live on Friday, January 1 at 11.15 on Radio3, deferred in 13.30 on Rai2, and in response to 9.15 pm at Rai5.
The orchestra will be conducted by maestro Riccardo Muti, who will be eighty years old in 2021 and will celebrate the festive appointment with the Wiener Philharmoniker for the sixth time in his extraordinary career. For the occasion, in addition to the waltzes and polkas of the Strauss family, it also offers pages of Carl Zeller and Carl Millöcker, never before played at a New Year’s concert.
And the polka? And the Radetzky march? How will it be done without applause?? “We will come up with something with the orchestra,” said Froschauer. In fact, even for the musicians it will be a first time without the applause of the listeners. “Maybe we could applaud in the orchestra?“, Speculates the president speaking with The press, ensuring maximum rigor on the part of the musicians. “For Christmas and New Year’s Eve they will follow the same rules as the rest of the citizens,” he explains, “and I presume that everyone will behave in a reasonable way, celebrating with a very small circle.”

we need you.
In these weeks of pandemic, journalists, if we do our work conscientiously, we carry out a public service. That is also why every day here at ilfattoquotidiano.it we are proud to offer hundreds of new content for free to all citizens: news, exclusive insights, expert interviews, surveys, videos and much more. All this work, however, comes at great financial cost. Advertising, at a time when the economy is stagnant, offers limited income. Not in line with the access boom. That is why I ask those who read these lines to support us. Give us a minimum contribution, equal to the price of a cappuccino per week, which is essential for our work.

THANKS FOR READING NOW XX ITEMS THIS MONTH.
But now we are the ones who need you. Because our work has a cost. We are proud to be able to offer hundreds of new content to all citizens for free every day. But advertising, at a time when the economy is stagnant, offers limited revenue. Not in line with the boom in access to ilfattoquotidiano.it. That is why I ask you to support us, with a minimum contribution, equal to the price of one cappuccino per week. A small but fundamental sum for our work. Give us a hand!
