An entire community is in mourning for the tragedy that occurred yesterday, Saturday, December 19, in Vernasca, in the town of Ferrai. The death of Ester Crovetti, born in 65, hit by a car while on the roadside with her sister Maura, who is three years younger and seriously injured, generated widespread pain.
The investor, a 35-year-old local, was driving a BMW; after a skid and after having overwhelmed some garbage cans, the young man disappeared but shortly after he was joined by the carabinieri. The young man, after the crash, arrived at his house, parking the car in front of his residence. Once on the scene, the carabinieri noticed the obvious damage to the bodywork and took the man who is now in Novate prison. He was found in an “evident state of intoxication”: he must answer for the charges of homicide on the road, personal injury, wrongful death and driving while intoxicated. The car was seized by the judicial authorities.
Ester Crovetti, well known in the village, lived with her sister and was a social and health worker who worked at the Vernasca senior center. A great lover of painting, it was her love for dogs that united her even more with her sister who is now fighting for her life in hospital: the injuries suffered by Maura, who was rushed to the hospital in Parma, were also serious.
