(ANSA) – VENICE, DECEMBER 9 – The lifting of the Mose gates began at 3 in the morning, in view of the maximum tide forecast (125-130 centimeters) for this morning in Venice. This is confirmed by sources from the Municipality.

A rapid negative evolution of the meteorological conditions, with strong sirocco winds and the sea unable to receive the thrust of the lagoon due to the discharge downstream of the rivers swollen by the rain, was enough to literally throw the performance of the gates to the wind. October until today. From a forecast of 125 centimeters, this afternoon it reached an exceptional level 13 centimeters higher than the calculations of the technicians.
