“The situation in Veneto is of unprecedented gravity. Deaths and infections are increasing every day. The Montebelluna hospital is out of control. Doctors write to me and ask for my help, saying that they are in desperate condition.” The cry of alarm comes from the former senator of the Democratic Party Laura Puppato, former mayor of Montebelluna, who says she is very concerned about the numbers that revolve around the hospital in her city. “We are like Bergamo, the coffins have been crowded in the hospital chapel,” he complains, giving various reasons. But the response from the Veneto region is ready and it comes from the Minister of Health Manuela Lanzarote: “Nothing is out of control, not the general situation, not the Montebelluna hospital.”
Laura Puppato, exponent of the Democratic Party, for a long time was a direct point of reference for the health sector in the Pedemontana area. It no longer has an administrative office but is still a complaint collector, especially at this dramatic time. “A doctor from the Montebelluna hospital wrote to me that I am no longer in a position to treat patients,” reveals the exponent dem. “They tell me that the selection has already begun between who to treat and who not, among all those who come to the hospital. Newly graduated doctors are terrified, retirees are forced to stay closed in doctors’ offices. There are 65 infected operators in total. 200 patients a year were admitted to the Pulmonology ward, 80 were admitted in just one month. We realize? ”.
The health policies of the Veneto Region and its president end up under indictment Luca zaia, with a consensus of 76 percent in the last regional elections. An element of strong contrast is the one that refers to the color of the region, yellow. “I wonder how it is possible that it is still yellow. I also wrote to Andrea Orlando, asking to do a checkup “Puppato points out.” I would have chosen to make small localized closures, to isolate the most affected areas. Instead, the situation got out of control. Now we have even reached the emergency of the coffins ”.
Manuela Lanzarote, Councilor for Health, responds to each point: “There is a higher incidence of cases in the Montebelluna area, in fact we have started a specific screening to find the largest number of positives and isolate them. We have already done it in some municipalities in the interior, with a view to containing the virus. As for the hospital, it is simply responding to needs, like many others. The staff today are fatigued and under stress. As for the deaths, they tell me that there have been delays in the funeral celebrations that contributed to making the coffins they speak of visible. The Veneto Region recalls that the best way to help health professionals is to adopt correct behavior abroad, which is the opposite of what we are seeing in the cities this weekend ”.
