USA: Wildfires burn California and the Pacific Northwest – Breaking news

[ad_1]

(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 08 – Northern California continues to burn, but now many fires have been reported in the Pacific Northwest area as well, including Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Montana, due to a heat wave with dry conditions and strong winds.

In the Golden State, fires, nearly 1,000 since Aug. 15, caused largely by ‘dry flashes’, have now devastated more than 8,000 square kilometers.

The most dangerous, still out of control, remains the Creek Fire, which engulfed 546 square kilometers of land, destroyed 65 buildings and forced thousands of people to flee their homes.

Dozens are still trapped. More than 170,000 residents were without power in the Fresno area, where helicopters have difficulty flying due to heavy smoke.

In the states of Oregon and Washington, hurricane-force winds and high temperatures have fueled the flames and nearly 250,000 people are without power. The city of Malden, in the state of Washington, was almost destroyed. (HANDLE).
