It is a tragedy that occurred on Thursday afternoon, shortly before 2 pm, in Cotignola, where a student was killed by a train. The young man, a 15-year-old Italian, was overwhelmed on the railway between Faenza and Lavezzola, near Cotignola. The conductor immediately noticed what had happened and immediately stopped the train. The body was found about a hundred meters away, the emergency services of the 118 rushed to the place but the doctors could not do anything other than verify the death.
The State Police went to the scene with the flyers from the Lugo police station, the Faenza railway police and the scientific police from the Lugo police station. Based on the dynamics of the incident and an initial reconstruction, investigators believe it was a voluntary gesture. Investigations are still ongoing.
The train involved is a regional train that traveled from Faenza to Lavezzola and traffic between Lugo and Granarolo was suspended. The passengers on board the train, around 3 pm, were dropped off and transferred to buses for the continuation of the journey.
