Umbria ‘Yellow Christmas’: a date is expected

The 4th, probably the 7th, probably the 13th of December. Apart from Bianco Natale, the festivities of Umbria and most (perhaps even all) of the Italian regions will be yellow. The confrontation with the government is very close these days and in Rome they will take as much time as possible to evaluate each solution so as not to repress the desire of the citizens to party and, above all, the need for merchants to see some profit in a period which (especially in our region) is historically among the most profitable, especially for tourists from outside the region and from outside the country. Therefore, there are two knots for the destination of Umbria tourism: the freedom of interregional travel and the opening of shops and shopping centers.

SPECIAL COVID – UMBRIAON

All yellow?

On the first point, good news could come from the indiscretion that, at least on the days closest to the holidays, all Italian regions could be considered yellow, therefore with freedom of movement. It is one of the hypotheses on the ground, on which, however, the government demands maximum collaboration in controls and rigor in all other elements. For the reopening of schools, for example, it will be discussed again on the 7th. In Umbria the results of the restrictions are beginning to be seen (some of which were decided autonomously by the Tesei board). But for interregional movements, other regions must also adopt this color.

TOWARDS AN ‘ARMED’ CHRISTMAS BETWEEN MEASURES AND FIREWORKS

Are the stores open on Sundays?

Saint Nicholas Day, December 6, is historically the first to enter the Christmas atmosphere. It is no coincidence that major Umbrian cities turned on the lights this week. But that’s also the last day it’s in effect the Tesei ordinance, which closed shopping malls and stores on Sundays. As it appears, the governor, however, would be thinking of making a small Christmas gift to her citizens, anticipating the revocation of the measures and therefore giving the Umbrians, only for Sunday 6, the first pre-Christmas purchases. Symbolic date also for other reasons: on those days the trees light up. For Gubbio, appointment Monday 7.

How is the situation now

Currently in Umbria, by virtue of the Dpcm (deadline December 3) and the ordinance (deadline 6) it is forbidden to leave one’s own municipality and region, except for work, study, health and needs, provided that it is indicated in the self-certification . From 5 to 22, however, there is a curfew: you cannot move even within the municipality except for proven reasons to self-certify. Retail stores remain open, but bars, restaurants, and patisseries remain closed, with delivery and take-out until 10 pm Theaters, exhibitions and museums, bingo halls, betting centers and slot machines are closed. On the other hand, kiosks, bookstores and stationery stores, computers, electronics and appliances, sporting goods and bicycles, car and motorcycle dealerships and workshops, cleaning products and home personal care stores (including laundries and dry cleaners), hardware stores, flower shops and daycare, pet and toy stores, and children’s clothing stores. On holidays and days prior to holidays, medium and large commercial structures are closed, as well as commercial establishments within shopping centers.
