Two Dronero priests positive for the coronavirus. After Don Michelangelo Priotto, 75 years old, Biblical scholar and co-pastor of the parish of Santi Andrea y Ponzio, who found out on Monday, September 7, this morning (Wednesday) the parish priest, Archpriest Don Graziano Einaudi (67), also received the news that his swab was positive. Negative, however, Don Marco Bruno, parish priest of Roccabruna and that he lives in the Dronera rectory with his companions, in separate accommodation.
“We are all fine, we have had some lines of fever, but it has disappeared,” Don Einaudi reassures us. I am very concerned and sorry for the inconvenience this bad situation will bring. In recent weeks I have been in contact with many people, before I knew that I had caught Covid-19. I will remain in solitary confinement for 15 days and then I will undergo hyssop again ”. Don Michelangelo Priotto had gone to the hospital last week, following symptoms of the flu that had made him suspicious. Upon the news of his positivity, which arrived on Monday, Don Einaudi and Don Bruno had been placed in preventive isolation and yesterday they had swabs, with the results they arrived today. Even if it is negative, Don Bruno must remain in preventive isolation for 7 days.
Meanwhile, the parish looks for substitutes to guarantee the Eucharistic celebrations. On the weekend, however, in Dronero the patronal feast of the Madonna di Ripoli and Foglienzane will take place. The mass of greeting on Sunday, September 13, has already been postponed to Father Graziano Einaudi who, after 16 years of service, will leave the parish of Dronero to take care of the community of the Maira Valley. The mayor of Dronero, Livio Acchiardi: «The most important thing is that the two priests are well. Until September 23 they must remain in fiduciary isolation, the ASL will verify their movements and contacts and decide what to do. Also very sorry for the many faithful and the celebrations, which the Diocese of Saluzzo will try to ensure. In a period of priest shortage, it really wasn’t necessary. But I reiterate that the thought is directed above all to the health conditions of Don Graziano and Don Miguel Ángel, to whom we wish a speedy recovery.
