(ANSA) – ROME, NOVEMBER 8 – Turkish Finance and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak, the son-in-law of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, resigned today for “health reasons.”

This was announced by the minister himself through his Instagram account and the resignation was later confirmed by the Turkish media. The announcement follows President Erdogan’s decision yesterday to replace the central bank governor. “After holding ministerial positions for five years, I made the decision not to continue my service as finance minister due to health problems,” Berat Albayarak wrote, adding that she wanted to spend more time with her family. “Neglected for many years out of necessity.”

Following the announcement of his resignation, his Twitter account was deleted.

Albayarak was appointed Minister of Energy in 2015, a position he held until 2018, when he assumed the direction of the most important economic department. (HANDLE).
