The hands of a surgeon, they say, are worth gold. And that’s where a father tried to hit his son, putting his ability to operate at risk. He hired a thug to hurt him. “Break his fingers,” he had said. And he did it because his son, a 43-year-old surgeon, is gay.
Now that 75-year-old self-employed retired father has negotiated two years in prison for aggravated injuries and stalking before Turin court gup Ludovico Morello. They unmasked him because the bully to whom he had promised 2,500 euros betrayed him and told his son everything.
That fact dates back to April 2017, but for four years the father insulted and persecuted his son. It all begins when the surgeon is photographed by the sea on the French Riviera with a well-known actor, the photos end in some tabloid magazine. The news is not new in the surgeon’s family, the man had already told a year before about his homosexuality and the news had been taken in stride by his father. “Too bad only for the grandchildren,” he said. That public testimony in the newspapers, however, changed things. The father attacked his son, made his partner assault, he also attacked his wife who in the end, after 42 years of marriage, decides to separate. The charges that led to the plea deal, in fact, also include harassment committed against the wife who had taken the role of the son. In April he hired a bully, he is a man of Romanian origin. And it is not even the first time, in February he hired two men to beat his son’s partner: on that occasion he sent him to the hospital.
“My son is a bully, break his fingers,” he told the bully this time. But the henchman has been stalking his son and his partner for two weeks and has not noticed anything that could trace that doctor’s life back to criminal circles. So in the end he decided to expose his father’s plan and told the surgeon everything. The money promised to the Romanian by his client was also used to puncture the tires of his son and his wife’s new cars. From that moment on, the surgeon lives in fear that his father will try to hit him again. He does not report it immediately, first he tries to understand why, but there is no adequate explanation for this violence. Friends and acquaintances become his escort until May 2018 when the doctor decides to report his father to the carabinieri. The father forced his son to live in fear for years. To escape his stalking, he had even switched studios. And as if that were not enough, he was denounced by his father who posed as a victim and sued him for an attack that never existed.
