Peak of admissions, there are almost 400: we are in the fifth and last level of alarm in the Region. The positives exceed 11 thousand
TREVISO
The new peak of hospitalizations -16 in the last 24 hours, a total of 391 of which 24 in intensive care- drags the province of Treviso to the maximum risk range among the five foreseen by the Region. The one in which it will be necessary to look for extra beds to dedicate to Covid patients: in the case of USL 2, the emergency plan, another one, provides for the reconversion of the Oderzo hospital in a very tight round (between today and tomorrow) , which until now only housed one patient with coronavirus. A rapidly deteriorating but highly anticipated outlook, so much so that Benazzi had announced the 40 additional beds in Oderzo mid-last week. The problem is that after Oderzo, and after Valdobbiadene (a hospital reopened with 60 places for the non-critical area), the only hope to keep bed occupancy under control is to reduce new cases. A slight sign of hope emerges from the weekly trend: in the last seven days 4,078 new cases have been registered in the province of Treviso, growth continues but at a slower pace than in the previous three weeks.
Emergency income
Yesterday even the Intensive Care Unit, stable for a few days, again received new patients: among them, according to the general director of the USL 2, also 45 years old, showing that no one, with such a sneaky virus, can feel safe (Again according to Benazzi, the conditions of the other young man in intensive care improve, the 37-year-old protagonist of the video in which he responds to the deniers). The pressure on hospitals is strong, especially for Treviso (84 cases in Ca ‘Foncello, plus another 14 in intensive care), Vittorio Veneto (91 patients in non-critical areas, 3 in intensive care) and Montebelluna (98, plus two in intensive care). “From tomorrow until November 20, we expect a new escalation pending the peak”, stresses CEO Benazzi, “we are controlling the wave of new hospitalizations by increasing the number of beds everywhere. The plan we have prepared will allow us to endure again this time. Our Usl is very close to level five provided by the Region, at which point the plan calls for the opening of new beds for Covid patients in Oderzo. We are ready to open between today and tomorrow. “However, less worrisome is the panorama of intensive care, which, unlike hospitalizations, is growing at a much slower rate than in the first wave The number of occupied places is 24 out of 104 potential, considering emergency plans: less than 30% evaluated as a critical threshold.
Growth decline
At the moment, it is hardly any consolation to note the slowdown in the epidemic during the last week: “It is true, there is a slight slowdown in the increase of cases”, Benazzi emphasizes, “the problem is that the hospitalization line always arrives a few days late so hospitalizations will continue even after new cases have started to decline. ”“ Currently positives ”in the province of Treviso have exceeded 11,000, with an increase of more than 600 cases in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the emergency until today, almost twenty thousand people in Treviso have contracted the coronavirus (and those who discovered it thanks to a swab, many more infected): it means that more than one in 40 people in Treviso have been infected, a proportion significantly higher than the national one (an Italian of 60), defined as “an enormity” by the extraordinary commissioner for the emergency Domenico Arcuri. Finally, the number of deaths: 35 in the last week, two yesterday.
Contexts at risk
Schools remain under special surveillance (although distance education should reduce the incidence of new cases), nursing homes and workplaces, for which the Local Health Authority 2 has requested the collaboration of companies: given the difficulty follow-up contacts, the USL asked the owners, in case of contagion, to send all the data of the people who come into contact with the positive. In recent days, a new outbreak has emerged in the nursing home, in Botteselle di Col San Martino, with 12 positive guests. And the RSAs arm themselves, as in spring, by prohibiting family visits. –
