Slovenian society and money super factories, power games in the Vatican, hatred and envy. Cecilia Marogna, the 39-year-old Sardinian defined the cardinal’s lady as the Vatican super-consultant whom the former number two of the Secretary of State Angelo Becciu had claimed half a million euros in 4 years, he accepts with the Messenger Serviceto get to the bottom of the complex story that involves it. It does so on the basis of the Slovenian cards that the Messenger Service managed to see. The company created by Marogna la Logsic, incorporated in Ljubljana on December 19, 2018 with a paid-up capital of 7,500 euros. A company whose financial statements do not appear by movements, which does not present invoices but only some fees, both to Marogna and to third parties. An srl that has humanitarian operations as a business name, but has not yet submitted the 2019 budget.

Cecilia Marogna, the cardinal’s lady
Mrs Marogna, have you really built a parallel diplomacy on behalf of Cardinal Becciu to prevent terrorist attacks against the Nunciatures?
Yes, I claim the result of having built a network of relationships in Africa and the Middle East designed to protect Nunciatures and Missions from environmental risks and terrorist cells.
Why open a company in Slovenia if the risks are in Africa and the Middle East?
I started the company in Slovenia for geopolitical reasons: I thought the next powder keg would be in the Balkans. And to increase relations with countries like Georgia, Ukraine, Serbia, Bosnia, Slovenia. My company Logsic specialized in humanitarian operations.
How many are you in Logsic? It looks like a front company.
There are three of us in the workforce, one of whom is in Britain and the other in Africa, but the company is in my name. It seems clear to me that we cannot make transfers to the countries listed in the blacklist, but I had to pay people in Africa, manage crises, make transfers. Therefore, the funds in Slovenia were collateral for the operations in Africa.
How is it that the financial statements do not show the 500 thousand euros that you admit to having taken?
Since these are confidential transactions, the financial statements do not include fees or invoices, and the Vatican has no actual taxes. And I certainly couldn’t issue invoices myself.
Could you also use the funds personally, for confidential purposes?
Yes, I could.
Who was sending you the money?
Cardinal Becciu gave the entrance to Monsignor Perlasca, who made the transfers.
In the phase where you open Logsic and wait for 500 thousand euros per section, where did the money come from?
In the initial phase I used funds available in other cooperation structures, such as the 220 thousand pounds used in the first period of activity for reserved remuneration.
Let me be clearer: how was the money spent?
They were spent on professional fees for me and my collaborators, on travel, living expenses. Much of the 500 thousand euros was left in an account that was later closed due to lack of management. There were two accounts, based on Unicredit from Lubjana.
And the expenses of leather purses and armchairs?
I only bought Italian products, like Tod’s and Poltrona Frau. After so much work, I think I have the right to buy an armchair.
Why did you grow up, Signora Marogna?
At this point I consider myself a package bomb. Initially it could have been functional to divert attention from the London scandal. From a “profit” I have become a boomerang, an object of contention for events outside the Vatican walls. The big interests revolve there, the transfers for me are small things in the context of a much broader power struggle, which has already seen many heads fall and which is just beginning, between the factions that oppose Pope Francis.
