Year of testing and training of newly incorporated teachers: the ministerial circular arrives that every year, based on Ministerial Decree 850/2015, regulates this important requirement in which tutors and the Director also intervene.

The news of the 2020/21 school year

Who should take the test and training year

  • teachers who are in their first year of service with permanent positions (newly hired candidates who aspire to confirm it);
  • teachers who have obtained the transition to the position (both a probationary year and related training; all regularly as the others mentioned above);
  • teachers who have postponed the year of probation, due to excused absences, illness, maternity, leave for family reasons;
  • teachers who at the end of the first year of testing were evaluated negatively; Law 107 (art. 1 paragraph 119) provides for the possibility of repeating the course for the second and last time.

Who should NOT complete the trial year

Teachers:

  • who have already completed the period of training and probation in the same order and degree of entry to the position;
  • who have obtained the role change and have already completed the training and the probationary period in the same order and grade;
  • permanent new hire recipients who have already completed the training and testing period in the same order and grade, including any FIT courses in accordance with DDG 85/2018;
  • already placed in the position with reserve, who have successfully passed the year of training and testing and are again hired by the 2018 Extraordinary Contest for children and primary school for the same position (as specified in Ministerial Decree 10/17/2018, art c. 5);
  • who have obtained the transfer from common position to support and vice versa within the same order and grade, as well as teachers who already occupy common positions / support recipients of new hiring for an indefinite period of another competitive procedure in common position / support of the same order and degree.

The 50 hour training course

The total duration of the course is quantified in 50 hours of commitment; the path includes the following phases / activities:

  • preparatory and final restitution meetings;
  • face-to-face training activities (workshops and / or visits to innovative schools);
  • Class observation Tutor-Teacher and Teacher-Tutor (to be planned also using specific operational tools);
  • training-professional development pact between the newly hired teacher and the school principal;
  • online training / INDIRE platform;
  • compilation of the documents / professional folder that will constitute the final Dossier at the end, including:
  1. Educational curriculum with at least complete experience;
  2. The initial balance of competences;
  3. Title and summary of the teaching activity;
  4. Future training needs;
  5. Survey.

Days of service and educational activity

Passing the training and testing period (therefore, admission to the final interview) is subject to the performance of the service effectively provided for at least 180 days during the school year, of which at least 120 for teaching activities.

Within 180 days they fall all activities related to school service, including:

  • periods of suspension of lessons and didactic activities;
  • exams and ballots
  • any other service commitments

Do not fall within 180 days:

  • Holidays
  • sick leave (including injuries)
  • being absent for family reasons or other expectations (unless the law that regulates them explicitly states that they are considered in the probationary period)
  • periods of maternity leave / work ban (excluding the first month), parental leave or sick leave of the child, even if paid
  • Paid and unpaid leave (for example, leave for marriage, leave for personal reasons, for bereavement, law 104/92, etc.).

The 120 days include the actual days of lessons and the days used in the workplace for any other activity reserved for the best performance of the didactic action.. Specifically, the days dedicated to the following activities:

  • lesson
  • Recovery
  • strengthening
  • evaluation activities
  • project activities
  • training activities
  • school activities
