Davide was leveling the corn cut the day before and ensiled in the large silos of the company, which specializes in raising Friesians for milk production. It was his brother Francesco who realized that at some point he had lost consciousness and had collapsed to the ground. He also went down to the silo and suffered the same fate. Moments later, his father Claudio managed to enter and take his two sons to the roof of the silos, where he began to massage them while waiting for the rescuers to arrive. The firefighters, 118 with ambulance and helicopter rescue, and police tried by all means to save Davide’s life, but all to no avail, while Francesco was transferred to the Savigliano hospital by helicopter. Hospitalized in intensive care in a very serious condition due to poisoning from the fumes of corn fermentation.

The children’s father and uncle were shocked, who were working in the company and lived through the tragedy, which shocked the entire community of Cavallermaggiore, just over 5,400 souls between the Langhe and the Alps, in the Cuneo plain, on the right bank of the Maira river. The Gennero family is well known in the area and theirs is one of the historic farms in the Saviglianese plain.
