Sarzana – Val di Magra – Tragedy in Punta Bianca. A 51-year-old man, originally from Perugia, died and the help that immediately arrived at the scene was useless. The episode dates back to 14 this afternoon when, with his partner, he went for a bath.
The waves were high and the sea rough. The woman managed to go back up, he went very little and was swallowed by the waters without being able to go back up. When the woman, also from Perugia, saw that her partner did not return, she asked for help.
According to what was learned from the Port Authority, the Nemo 02 helicopter crew identified the body of the 51-year-old man in a cave dragged into the rocks by the strong wave current in the area.
Unfortunately there was nothing to do, the man would have drowned. The fire brigade of the maritime detachment arrived at the scene with the jet ski and with a team from Sarzana, 118, the Port Authority and the police. The recovery works are complex, also due to the sea conditions. Once it was impossible to lower the rescue plane due to the force of the waves, the helicopter awaited the arrival of the Fire and Cnsas – Alpine Rescue teams from the ground, who managed to reach the victim and harness him for recovery.
