Tragedy in Magliano: woman dies overwhelmed by train

Tragedy on the Turin-Savona railway line, in the municipality of Magliano Alpi (at km 13 + 800 between Magliano and Mondovì). Around 8.45 am this morning, Thursday, September 24 an elderly woman was overwhelmed by the regional train traveling from Fossano to Mondovì. The accident occurred between the Magliano-Crava-Morozzo station and the bridge over the Pesio stream. The victim is an 85-year-old resident of San Lorenzo di Peveragno, AB.

The train left at 8.44 am from Magliano station, towards Mondovì. Shortly after impact: The driver applied the emergency brake and came to a stop, alerting the regional operations room. The body of the beaten person was found about 200 meters from where the convoy had stopped. The fire teams, the Carabinieri and the Polfer were on the scene. Suspended traffic: the train is currently stopped at the bridge, the replacement bus has been called. All investigations are ongoing.
