The new council of Liguria was born under the banner of tears. Forza Italia remains outside the regional government led by Giovanni Toti (pictured). A tear that made noise and that, say the well-informed, will not stop having consequences at the political level. “I think that the agreement found in these hours – trying to minimize the reconfirmed governor – is a balanced agreement that will obviously leave someone satisfied, someone less. But everyone can be considered part of this project in the same spirit of the last five years. Three councilors belong to the “Cambiamo!” List, two to the Lega and two to the Brothers of Italy. Forza Italia did not even go to the president of the regional council (it will be from the league), which will only be the secretariat of the presidency of the same council. Five of the seven councilors are reconfirmed from the old town hall with the same tasks: it is Andrea Benveduti (Lega) with the responsibility of economic, energy and port development; Ilaria Cavo (Let’s change!) Who will have school, culture and training; Giacomo Giampedrone (Let’s change!) To civil protection, infrastructure and public works; Marco Scajola (Let’s change!) For urban planning and state property; Gianni Berrino (Brothers of Italy) reconfirmed in the Department of Labor and Tourism. The new councilors are the lawyer Simona Ferro (Brothers of Italy) who will take care of the staff, the school and the animals, and Alessandro Piana (Lega), former prime minister, responsible for agriculture, hunting and fishing. Governor Toti will remain with the budget and health powers.
The tear, the well-informed suggest, is the result of a strategy that starts from afar. At least since the construction of the lists. Without a blocked list, a municipal agreement a priori could not be organized and that is why the electoral result especially rewarded the governor’s list. That now has the numbers (in the Council) not to depend on pressure from the allies. Giorgio Mulè, spokesman for the Azzurri parliamentarians who have their constituency in Liguria, speaks of Toti’s gesture as a product of “immaturity and political arrogance.” Toti, who, in word but only in word, aspired to be a benchmark for the moderates and even for the center-right, Mulè recalls, built “a board that revolves around the Ligurian movement of President Toti with the representation of a part of the center right. The true center-right, in fact, governs united and compact, from one part of Italy to another in the name of loyalty, sharing values and respecting each of the components ”.
If the governor has the numbers to govern, they explain from the Forza Italia circles, however, he runs the risk of not having more what is needed for a future as a national protagonist. In short, the game at the pole of the moderates, often invoked by Toti himself to face the comparison with the extreme wing of the coalition, runs the risk of having an end that is not at all favorable for the governor of Liguria .
In the forefront of the candidacies for the spring municipalities, meanwhile, that of Umberto Veronesi’s son, Paolo, is emerging for the Lombard capital, that of Giancarlo Tonelli, current director of Ascom de Bologna, for the Emilian capital and the anti-mafia magistrate Catello Maresca for Naples.
