A lost return was for the children who on Monday September 7 should have returned to the nursery in via Verga, in the Ticino area. The presence of mice postponed the institute’s reopening date.
Parental protests
“Warned this morning at 8.20 am outside the school because the rodent control was not successful – writes, criticizes, a mother on Facebook, in the profile of the Municipality -. Beppe Sala what she wants to say to the children excited about the return that they cried outside the school after being told that they would not return? “” Sad children after so much expectation and preparation for the return – another mother writes on social networks – only today do you realize that there are mice? Only today at 8.20 am they warned us that the children could not have entered at 8.30. We ask for explanations. and it is urgent to act to reopen the school in a short time ”.
The City Council: “We are already at work. Reopening in a week”
The reactions of the children’s parents, understandably, were very heated. But the Municipality explains how the rodent control had already begun at the end of August, after the discovery of some mouse feces. To understand whether it was a passing animal or a real infestation, some traps were set. If they were left empty, a thorough cleaning would suffice; otherwise, the activity to eliminate them would have been more extensive.
However, only in the early hours of Monday, just when the little ones were supposed to go back to school, was an animal found in one of the traps. Parents were warned at the time that the reopening would be postponed to September 14. The hypothesis, in fact, is that the mice have made the den within the structure of the school. Therefore, a more complex disinfestation intervention will be necessary, which has already started on Monday and which guarantees a safe return for the children.
