Currently, there are 866 new cases of positivity for the coronavirus (679 identified in the course of screening and 187 from detection activities) out of a total of 25,466 cases registered since the beginning of the epidemic. New cases are 3.5% more than the total of the previous day.
The average age of the 866 cases today is around 44 years (17% are under 20, 27% between 20 and 39, 31% between 40 and 59, 16% between 60 and 79.9% age 80 or older).
Those cured grew by 1.4% and reached 12,006 (47.1% of the total number of cases). The swabs performed reached 950,782, 11,629 more than yesterday. 7,359 subjects were tested (excluding control swabs), of which 11.8% were positive. The positives are currently 12,239 today, + 6% compared to yesterday. The hospitalized are 579 (32 more than yesterday), of which 76 in intensive care (4 more). Today there are 13 new deaths: 7 men and 6 women with an average age of 79.8 years.
These are the data – verified at 12 noon today based on requests from the National Civil Protection – relative to the advance of the epidemic in the region.
It should be remembered that as of June 24, 2020, the Ministry of Health has modified the data collection system on the spread of Covid-19. Positive cases are no longer indicated according to the province of notification but according to the province of residence or domicile.
Below are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday. To date, there are 7,413 cases in Florence (303 more than yesterday), 1,684 in Prato (41 more), 1,801 in Pistoia (23 more), 2,001 in Massa (30 more), 2,746 in Lucca (67 more), 3,294 in Pisa (104 more), 1,386 in Livorno (105 more), 2,443 in Arezzo (140 more), 1,279 in Siena (30 more), 869 in Grosseto (23 more). There are 550 positive cases reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions. Therefore, there are 367 cases found today in the Central Local Health Authority, 306 in the Northwest, 193 in the Southeast.
Tuscany ranks ninth in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 683 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (the Italian average is 720 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The notification provinces with the highest rate are Massa Carrara with 1,027 cases x 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 786, Florence with 733, Grosseto with 392, the lowest.
In total, 11,660 people are isolated at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital care or do not have symptoms (661 more than yesterday, 6% more). There are 19,541 (1,366 more than yesterday, plus 7.5%) people, also isolated, under active surveillance, for having had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 7,998, Northwest 6,871, Southeast 4,672).
The people admitted to the beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 579 (32 more than yesterday, plus 5.9%), 76 in intensive care (4 more than yesterday, plus 5.6%).
There are 12,006 people cured in total (160 more than yesterday, more 1.4%): 467 people clinically cured (29 less than yesterday, less 5.8%), that is, they became asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with Infection and 11,539 ( 189 more than yesterday, more 1.7%) declared cured in all aspects, the so-called viral cures, with double negative swab.
Today there are 13 new deaths: 7 men and 6 women with an average age of 79.8 years. Regarding the province of residence, the deceased are: 8 in Florence, 2 in Prato, 2 in Massa Carrara, 1 outside of Tuscany. 1,221 have died since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 449 in Florence, 56 in Prato, 86 in Pistoia, 186 in Massa Carrara, 149 in Lucca, 100 in Pisa, 66 in Livorno, 57 in Arezzo, 33 in Siena , 26 in Grosseto, 13 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.
Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 32.7 x 100,000 residents against 60.8 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (95.4 x100,000), Florence (44.4 x100,000) and Lucca (38.4 x100,000), the lowest in Grosseto (11.7 x 100,000).
