There are more than sixty, between drive-in and checkpoints, the sites enabled by the Sicilian Region to allow those who return to the island for the holidays at the end of the year to perform the rapid swab test, if they had not performed the molecular swab for 48 hours before arrival. Four are in Palermo: one at the Fiera (from 6 to 20), in the capital, then the others in the ports of Palermo and Termini, and the fourth at the Punta Raisi airport (from 7 to 24). There are no closing days.
The measure, contained in the order of President Musumeci and shared with the regional technical-scientific committee, aims to counteract the spread of the virus after the increase in mobility during the Christmas period. As is well known, Control Centers are provided at the island’s main accesses (ports, airports, etc.) and at the drive-ins installed by ASPs throughout the region.
“It is important – says the Region – to underline that those who arrive in Sicily must register on the platform www.siciliacoronavirus.it and inform if you are in possession of the negative result of the rhino-pharyngeal molecular swab performed in the last 48 hours or proceed with the execution of the rapid test in Sicilian territory at a drive-in or specific control point. In the event of a positive result, the procedures provided for Covid-19 positive subjects are followed, with repetition of the molecular swab and assumed by the regional health system. If it is negative, you can go to your home, with the recommendation to keep personal protective equipment, avoid contact with third parties and undergo an antigenic swab again after five days at the sites identified by the Asp. Alternatively, you can go to an authorized laboratory and undergo molecular swabbing, on your own, with the obligation that the structure itself notify the Department of Prevention of the ASP ”.
From the Region they add: “Whoever does not follow any of these procedures, as a last resort, is obliged to be placed in fiduciary isolation for 10 days, at home, notifying their family doctor, the pediatrician of free choice or the corresponding ASP. Travelers and those who have left the island, in the immediately preceding days, to go to the national territory for a period of less than four days are excluded. The ordinance will be in force from December 14, 2020 to January 7, 2021 included.
