LECCE – Today’s constant trend for infections in Puglia that maintains the rate of 16 percent of positive tests in the more than 8 thousand swabs processed in the last hours. There is also a slight decrease in the cases of positivity registered in the province of Lecce, which are 113 today compared to 121 yesterday and without any death (22 instead of people who died in the provinces of Bari and Foggia) after the woman 66-year-old who yesterday resided in Campo Panareo. There have been 475 fewer tests in the last hours than those of Thursday.
Based on information from the director of the health promotion department, Vito Montanaro, the president of the Region, Michele Emiliano, announced that today 8,461 tests of infection by covid-19 have been registered and exactly 1,350 positive cases have been registered, with a rate of 16 percent in line with what was recorded yesterday. These latest data have raised the number of current infected subjects in Puglia to the threshold of 22,511 units.
Of the 1,353 new cases registered, as mentioned, 113 are attributable to the province of Lecce (a considerable increase is reported in Galatina directly from Mayor Marcello Amante who, based on official communications from the prefecture, was aware of the confirmed cases equivalent to 35 residents positive for COVID and 91 citizens in quarantine). On the other hand, there are 472 cases registered in the province of Bari, 67 in the province of Brindisi, 176 in Bat, 269 in the province of Foggia and 239 in the province of Taranto. Unfortunately, there are still another 22 deaths: twelve in the province of Foggia and ten in the province of Bari.
The number of people healed in the region is 8,324 according to the data reported by the bulletin today, 72 more than yesterday. Currently active cases date back to 22,511 across Puglia. There are 21,104 people in home isolation, more than 93 percent of those infected. Since the beginning of the emergency, a total of 639,491 tests have been carried out to know if the coronavirus is positive or not. Patients admitted to dedicated wards are currently 1,407 (more than 6 percent), sixty-nine more than yesterday’s figure. Of these, there are now 158 hospitalized in intensive care.
This latest increase led the Apulian Region Health Department to organize the second phase of strengthening the hospital network. The first step involves the progressive activation of some 3,000 Covid beds until November 30, but once the spaces in health facilities are exhausted, the hypothesis, if necessary, of creating field hospitals in which to create wards intensive or subintensive. The total number of positive cases in Apulia confirmed since the beginning of the emergency phase, and updated with data from the last two days, is expected to be 31,792 as follows: 12,789 in the province of Bari; 3,433 in the province of Bat; 2,189 in the province of Brindisi; 7,396 in the province of Foggia; 2,356 in the province of Lecce; 3,385 in the province of Taranto. 240 cases are attributed to residents outside the region.
