An autistic boy came to school to start the new year, but after greeting his classmates he was forced to go home, not knowing when he could actually go to class because “there is no teacher to support him.” It occurs in Rome where the 9-year-old autistic boy was accompanied by his mother to the Pio La Torre institute. The case was denounced by his father, Francesco, and joins another similar episode reported today in Pisa, concerning a child with Down syndrome.

“For those like my son, who suffers from autism, school doesn’t start today and who knows when it will start – explains the father -. The support teacher is unfortunately not available because the assigned assistant has to be divided among several institutes and the other teachers are not responsible for keeping my son in the classroom as they do not know how to handle it. I am tired of seeing my son, along with 500 thousand other children in Italy, treated worse than a dog. He benefits from Law 104 and would be entitled to coverage during all school time. But everything remains on paper. The worst thing is that there is no one who knows how to indicate a date, nothing.
