The defense of the governor of Lombardy Attilio Fontana is increasingly unstable, who would have learned of the transfer without tender for the supply of dresses for the spa of Dama, from his brother-in-law and his wife, only on May 11 by chance of his staff and then in June of the Report interviews. As is clear from the documents of the Milan prosecutor’s office, which is examining the content of the mobile phones of 11 people, including that of his wife Roberta Dini, a message was sent from the cell phone of his brother Andrea on April 16 at 15:22, the day of Aria spa’s order, addressed to her sister who communicated the “order has arrived”, adding that: “I preferred not to write it to Atti.” To that text message, the wife of the Lombardy president replied, “Okay, okay.”
According to the prosecutors, there would be a generalized implication in the story of Fontana, who tried “to avoid leaving traces of his involvement in the media written messages.” Messages like the one on April 16 between his wife and brother-in-law, the investigators write, doubtful that throughout that day Fontana never spoke of the affair with his wife.
The message to the supplier
Another message complicates the position of the president of the Region and dates back to April 6, ten days before the signing of the contract on the gowns, which would suggest concrete help from Fontana for his brother-in-law. That day at 9:50 am, a fabric supplier apologizes to Andrea Dini because he has no way to supply the material he needs. The supplier, according to prosecutors, was pointed out by regional councilor Raffaele Cattaneo, head of the regional working group, who would have played a “decisive role in allowing Dama spa to reconvert and make an offer.” Dini replied to the provider’s SMS: «I don’t understand. It was Cattaneo and my brother-in-law Governor Fontana who told me to contact her. I will say that they were wrong. At 13:32 the supplier writes to Dini that he has spoken with Cattaneo and informs him that 50 thousand square meters of fabric are available.
The conflict of interest and the donation
That Andrea Dini and her sister were aware of the conflict of interest with the contract stipulated with the region and the relationship with Fontana arises from several messages. On one of April 21 at 6:47 am, Andrea Dini wrote to Paolo Zanetta, a lawyer for the company: «We must donate many more masks and yet have a certain proof. If we are broken by the supply of coats due to the brother-in-law we respond in this way. ”
In May, the offer becomes a donation, hence Fontana’s intention to make the transfer, later paralyzed by the suspicions of Anti-Laundering, of 250 thousand euros as compensation for the lack of income to his brother-in-law. It is 6:48 pm on May 25 when Roberta Dini writes to her brother: “Attilio calls me (his brain already tells you) to ask for the invoice number because he made a bank transfer but the invoice number is missing.” Andrea responds that the transfer between individuals is not good: “Tell him not to do it, it does more damage.” Fontana’s wife cannot get information about the transfer, she assumes it was made directly to the company. At that moment his brother worries: “But it’s still worse. I can’t bill you. And in another message he adds: «It puts the company in trouble. Calm down and we’ll see. ”
