After Lombardy and Campania, the Lazio region is also currently evaluating the extent of the curfew. Close everything and prohibit departures from 24 to 5, to avoid gatherings related to nightlife, the main suspect in the new increase in coronavirus infections: that is the reason for the decision. The Region should, according to rumors gathered by RomaToday, launch an ordinance in the next few hours.

Curfew in Rome and Lazio: self-certifications return

In the text, the key restrictive measure will be stop in the night circulation for five hours, starting on Friday, October 23 and with a duration of 30 days. The exceptions will most likely be cases related to those who have to move for work or health reasons, following the old model of self-certifications in force during the closing of last spring.

Distance education

The same ordinance, as of Monday, October 26, should also contain the Mandatory distance learning for 50% of secondary school students (excluding first-year students), and for 75% of university students, with the exception of training and first-year activities.

The Municipality working on the nightlife

The Rome City Council would also be willing to implement a measure to counteract night meetings. In particular, we would be thinking of a list of squares in which to establish a kind of closed number. Squares where the fixed surveillance of the police would be foreseen, which, in the event of gatherings, would foresee their closure. During this time, work is being done on the list of the affected places and on the establishment of the number of men needed to garrison them.

The number of infections

Figures in hand, Lazio is today the fourth region for the number of new positive cases, 1219, the second for the number of hospitalizations (1226) and the sixth for the total number of cases examined as of October 21, 28370. In the capital the positives in the last 24 hours are 543, with a Rt (contagion rate) of 1.2, half of that found in the city of Milan.

A situation that worries but that is defined under control, in comparison with the figures of other cities and regions. The goal is to try to bend the curve, keeping infections at levels that do not overwhelm hospitals. The region is working to increase the number of covid places: it should reach 2,913, of which 552 are in intensive care. San Filippo Neri, at ASL Roma 1, becomes a multidisciplinary hospital. Two pavilions will be completely dedicated to people who need treatment but are positive for the virus (as in the case of fractures). The Umberto I Polyclinic, the Spallanzani Institute and Covid Columbus also increase the capacity of beds. The regional health advisor, Alessio D’Amato, also requested the availability of beds to the accredited structures.

Lazio, according to the October Civil Protection data, seems to be the first Italian region for proven cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The national average is 2,497 cases analyzed per 100,000 inhabitants, while that of the Lazio region is 4,045 cases.
