This is what the police structures for the Coronavirus emergency in Palermo and Catania put in place, which carried out a control at the terminals of the two cities where most of the air traffic to and from Sicily is concentrated.
In the ‘Falcone-Borsellino’ the area of the Palermo airport dedicated to tests for arriving travelers was verified, a space that could possibly be implemented with other stations. The same recognition was carried out in Catania, at terminal C ‘Vincenzo Bellini’, where already during phase 2 of the pandemic it was equipped for anti-Covid controls.
“It is probable – inform the Region – that in addition to the checkpoints established at airports, in Sicilian cities and throughout the territory, additional dedicated drive-ins can be organized, precisely to allow those who enter Sicily, with other companies, to be able to perform the swab quickly. The inspections carried out today at the airports of Catania and Palermo are just some of the organizational and prophylactic aspects promoted by the Regional Department of Health that is already working, after a discussion with the experts, to prepare each useful prevention initiative with a view to the Christmas holidays ”.
