The Province of Latina wants to postpone the start of the school

Carlo Medici, president of the Province of Latina, asked the Region to postpone the start of the school year to a date after the referendum voting operations scheduled for September 20 and 21, given that many schools will host the the electoral colleges. .

In a letter, addressed to the councilor for school planning Claudio Di Berardino and for information to President Nicola Zingaretti, Medici underlines that he speaks on behalf of the mayors of the Pontina province and explains how the request “is not dictated by delays in the works of adaptation”. schools that, thanks to the great effort made during the summer holidays, have painstakingly reached the standards required by current legislation to achieve the dimensional objectives that classrooms and interior spaces must have in order to be classified as adequate. This request – we still read in the note to the Region, which is the competent body to decide the start of school activities in its territory – is instead inspired by economic criteria, finding it totally inappropriate to have to carry out double and very expensive sanitation operations in a few days after the reopening of school activities. Therefore, we ask for the postponement of the start of school activities which, as far as we know, is a matter for decision in other regions of Italy, firstly Puglia and Campania, which will reopen on September 24 “.

We believe that the postponement requested based mainly on the profitability criterion that must characterize the administrative action of each municipality – underlines the Medici president – can also guarantee a better definition of the problems raised as a corollary to the opening of school activities as topics already mentioned of transportation and dining service and more ”.
