Interview with Fabiola Gianotti: “Come on girls, science is ours too”
Gianotti was born in Rome on October 29, 1960. She obtained a doctorate in experimental particle physics at the University of Milan in 1989. Since 1994 she has been a researcher at Cern. In July 2012, during the seminar that made the discovery of the Higgs boson official, she presented the results of the research. Since 2016 she has held the position of Director General of CERN, thus becoming the first woman to assume this position. She has been a member of numerous international scientific committees and of the advisory committee of the United Nations Secretary General. She has received several honorary doctorates and international awards. She is a corresponding member of many Academies and the author or co-author of a significant number of scientific publications.
