«I no longer deal with RenziSee you in the Chamber. Having dealt extensively with Renzi (and with the support of the Democratic Party) to avoid the government crisis, Giuseppe Conte snapped and pointed to the count in the Senate. An encore, numbers in hand if you get it, of what happened on August 8, 2019, when the prime minister liquidated the alliance with the League and Matteo Salvini who had just publicly requested “full powers.”
To the House, especially thanks to the big five-star block, most do not seem to have major problems. The game is played entirely in the Senate, where the 18 exponents of the Psi-Italia viva group are the tip of the balance. With the vote of the Renzians (and with 9 of the members of the Mixed group who have so far leaned towards Conte), Palazzo Madama reaches 166, therefore 8 votes above the necessary majority of 156. This calculation does not takes into account the vote of the 6 senators for life.
To the Prime Minister, to form and chair a third Conte government, technically, even “just” 11 votes would be enough. However, this would be too shaky a move, ensuring a strong enough government outlook. That is why, in the event of a turning point for those “responsible”, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella would have announced that the latter must form a real group to give a feeling of greater stability.
The emissaries of Palazzo Chigi are officially on the hunt for “responsible” to support an alternative majority. In the next few hours we will understand the realization of this way out of the crisis. A solution that would have a larger stake in the event that even only a part of the Renzian group (here the story of the third “rischiatutto” of the poker player Renzi) fall apart and decide to support Conte again.
