Clandestine horse racing in Naro. About sixty – initially there were thirty – people, from Palma di Montechiaro and Licata, stopped and taken to the “Anghelone” barracks in via Crispi. The bombing, after months of suspicion and investigation, was carried out by the Flying Squad policemen who are being coordinated by Deputy Commissioner Giovanni Minardi. About twenty, apparently, cars blocked and two horses that have already been seized.
One of the alleged clandestine races also took place in Naro, precisely in the “Ciccobriglio” district. Underground races and illegal gambling: Gamblers bet big money on sports competitions that were never authorized. Agents also allegedly seized some cash.
The operation continues and the policemen, working in the “Anghelone” barracks, try to clarify each and every one of the positions: the bettors would have been blocked, but also the organizers who, of course, risk a lot.
The mayor of Naro: “Thank you”
“A round of applause to the Agrigento Police Headquarters, the Squadra Volanti and the Traffic Police for the operation to contrast the clandestine horse races that take place at the first light of dawn in the district of Ciccobriglio. Control activity is important and, I would also say, vital and contrast with illegal activities in a territory as extensive as that of the Municipality of Naro ”.
