It was the neighbors who called the fire department because they had been smelling a strong smell from an apartment for days. And when firefighters broke down the door they found the now lifeless bodies of three people: a man and two women. The 77-year-old mother, Luigia Teresa Etteri and her two children, 46-year-old Francesca Del Bianco Giovannella and her 51-year-old brother Massimo. It happened at 11:45 in Figline Valdarno, a town in the province of Florence. The carabinieri and the traffic police intervened at the scene. The bodies are in an advanced state of decomposition. According to the researchers, the mother was the first to die from an oncological disease while the children could have stabbed themselves to death after ingesting a massive dose of drugs or, more likely, it would be a case of suicide by homicide. The carabinieri, also based on the coroner’s findings, will have to say which of the two hypotheses. There are certainly no signs of theft on the doors and windows. The deaths date back a month and a half.
The house where the Etteri Del Bianco family lived is located on a street in the center of town, in a building on the first floor.
The mother and two children, of Italian nationality, had returned to South America for some years. According to some acquaintances, the family used to travel to Venezuela several times a year. The mother had returned from Venezuela permanently to Tuscany in 2018.
