Among them is Sara’s youngest son, 23, healthy and without any previous pathology, his symptoms, however, immediately become worrisome: fever, continuous cough, shortness of breath and collapses on the same Sunday. Fortunately, her brother and her girlfriend film her, warn their parents, who are safely residing in a separate apartment, and start asking for help. “We call 118, who tells us to call the medical guard, who tells us to call 118 – explains Sara -. “If we come we will hospitalize him and who knows when they will see him, then in a Covid ward he might get sicker,” they replied. Without words, we called our doctor who activated the Usca (Special Care Continuity Unit, ed) and only on Monday night he came to visit him. She was very nice, but on Thursday, three days later, we had to call her because she was getting worse.
“His lungs are tired,” he said. And finally he gave us the antibiotic. But he was choking on a cough, he couldn’t get up: he was in bed for so long that the sores came out. And in all these days, not even a phone call from ASL to find out how he was doing. They left us alone, not knowing what to do and how to behave. Only the pharmacist really helped us, also explaining to keep blood saturation under control – the only one who told us and was interested in the course of the disease.
