The body of Federica Leardini, the woman who disappeared last Friday, was found dead in the Adige River, between the municipalities of Villa Bartolomea and Terrazo. This was reported by the carabinieri and the firefighters who, since this morning, have been engaged in the investigation together with the police. The young mother had disappeared last Friday and, originally, the alarm was raised by her husband who had addressed the carabinieri on time, in addition to having also launched a public call on social networks.
The missing woman’s car, after the first investigations by the carabinieri, was found parked in Legnago near the river last night. Today the searches were initiated by the police, also with the help of firefighters. The woman’s cell phone was detected connected for the last time to a cell phone in Legnago, from where the searches were initially concentrated, and then continued along the river.
During the morning of today, Sunday December 20, operations began, also sounding the seabed thanks to the essential contribution of the nucleus of divers from the Venice fire brigade. And the helicopter of the firefighters from the city of the lagoon also arrived, which, as we learned, originally sighted the body stranded in the channel, on the border between the municipalities of Terrazo and Villa Bartolomea.
Subsequently, the divers recovered the body and took it ashore at the base camp, where the official recognition of the victim took place. According to reports from the carabinieri, still in the process of new investigations, the judicial authority has ordered an autopsy to be carried out in the next few hours.
