The two communities of San Giorgio delle Pertiche and Trebaseleghe that were united around the family of Pietro and Francesca Pontin, Alessandro’s children, murdered last Sunday by their father with a series of stab wounds. A sober ceremony but at the same time moving. The coffins of the thirteen and fifteen years arrived from Padua around 1:00 p.m., the religious function celebrated by Don Massimo Facchin has just begun. To welcome the coffins, many people gripped in pain, many of them holding a white rose in hand. The entire town of San Giorgio delle Pertiche has stopped: when the Christmas lights and the flags of the municipality went out at half mast, some citizens wanted to light candles and candles in the windows.

A restricted ceremony, in which the mother Roberta Calzarotto, relatives, including those of the man and schoolmates of the two very young were seen. The mass lasted just under an hour. At the exit of the two coffins, the friends launched a series of balloons into the sky, including two pink and blue heart balloons. Peers from Pietro’s local high school brought and handed his mother an envelope containing a series of thoughts directed at his tragically deceased friend. The funeral procession then went on foot to the cemetery of Arsego, the village where the two brothers lived, for the burial of the bodies.

The funeral was attended by the police officers of the Cittadella company, Daniele Canella, mayor of San Giorgio delle Pertiche who wore the tricolor sash, and his colleague Antonella Zoggia, mayor of Trebaseleghe. During the homily the parish priest remembered the two victims in this way: «I did not know them directly – said the priest – but I will meet them in heaven. Two different types, whose memory will always remain in all of us, as well as the memory of this terrible tragedy. In the middle of the celebration the most poignant words: «They are good people, now from heaven make your goodness fall like drops on your loved ones. Do from heaven what you can no longer do on earth. Pour a little of your good heart also on your dad who in a moment of madness has made this gesture. He also needs pure love.
