AN ESCAPE FOR LOVE That escape, the newspapers reported in those weeks, was an escape for love: after 30 years in which he had remained in prison without trying to escape, Mastini had met some old friends during a leave of absence whom he had asked about an old love . Giovanna truzzi, who was in Tuscany, under house arrest at his home. Doing 2 + 2 was not difficult for the researchers, who in a few weeks managed – with the stratagem of two agents who pretended to be mattress sellers – to find the two Lovebirds on the runand to arrest Johnny lo Zingaro again in Taverne d’Arbia, Siena. He and Giovanna, in love after decades of never seeing each other, were at their sister’s house.
