For a moment it seemed that the decisive moment had arrived. The key? That name, Andrea, Eleonora screamed when she was stabbed to death. Throughout the day yesterday, various rumors were pursued, including that of a suspect Andrea di Aradeo and under pressure from the Prosecutor’s Office. But investigators have denied what was heralding the turning point in the investigation. The hunt continues for the murderer of referee Daniele De Santis, 33, and her partner, the thirty-year-old Eleonora Manta, originally from SeclBER.
The fact that some living witnesses in the Via Montello condominium heard poor Eleonora shouting “Andrea, stop …”, has in the meantime triggered a veritable psychosis. The name of the killer? Or that of a neighbor Eleonora went to for help? In the palace, actually, there is a dear friend of Daniele whose name is that.
It is not a good time to call each other Andrea between Lecce and the province: in the chats, photos and Facebook profiles of those who are identified as the probable murderer they bounce from cell to cell. His only fault? Being called Andrea, in fact. So much so that yesterday afternoon a rumor spread that the prosecutor was listening to a person from Aradeo and a persecution began. Instead, the only Andrea actually heard by investigators, on the night of the murder, is a close friend of the referee. The last phone call that Daniele had made to him and it is for this reason, as well as the coincidence of that name, that the carabinieri wanted to hear him and let him go immediately afterwards. Another Andrea, Daniele’s friend and also a referee, entrusts his pain to Facebook: «A part of me is dead forever. Maybe one day I can write a few lines without you, about you. Now I can only write Thank you ».
In Aradeo, meanwhile, many spectators have appeared in the commercial exercise of what was indicated by many – including some national television broadcasts – as the person heard in the Prosecutor’s Office. Voices increasingly insistent, so much so that some neighbors even knocked on their parents’ door to ask them to account for what was happening. He, Andrea, felt threatened, perhaps he feared a lynching. He then called two lawyer friends, Davide Spiri and Roberto Tarantino, to ask them what he could do to protect himself and especially his family. In fact, it seems that the mother, faced with the news that was unfounded about his son’s involvement in the murder, even accused him of an anxiety crisis. «Tomorrow we will acquire the videos of the broadcasts that have identified my client as a person heard in the prosecution – confirms the lawyer Davide Spiri – and we will evaluate if the details exist to proceed with a lawsuit. We are aware that in this terrible tragedy the episode may be of less importance, but we must also protect the image of those who have nothing to do with the matter.
Meanwhile, investigations continue in all directions. The track must be the passionate one, given the murderer’s fury towards the two bodies. The hypothesis is that those who struck not only knew the couple, who in fact could have even opened the door of their house, but had arrived prepared: black hood down on the head, gloves and a yellow or light backpack with a short skirt. . The weapon has yet to be found, which could really mark the turning point in this thriller.
The carabinieri of the Lecce provincial command are concentrating all their forces to close the circle and arrive at the identity of the murderer. Given the conformation of the condominium – equipped with an exterior gate, the door of the building and then the front door – it seems likely that it was Daniele and Eleonora who opened it to the murderer, which supports the hypothesis that they knew him. Maybe they would let him into the house.
From the fury with which the murderer raged over the bodies, a deep resentment could be assumed. And then again: He wore fingerprint-free gloves and perhaps a hood over his head, which would suggest premeditation. So far the hypotheses. To corroborate them with the facts, the phones and computers of the two boys were seized, the cameras were screened and witnesses were heard. Someone would have seen a man dressed in black, with a covered face and gloves, walk away. On his shoulders he wore a yellow backpack, or at least a light color.
It would seem the same person who has taken the images of surveillance cameras placed in a street near Via Montello while walking towards number 2. The face is discovered here, but the quality of the images would not be such as to make it recognizable. But it is already something. A point from which to start acquiring new images, this time “exploring” a wider perimeter of the area, perhaps with the hope that the man would arrive by car, park somewhere and that the model -or with a little fate of the vehicle registration plate – then it is possible to trace your identity. And then there is another disturbing element, on which investigators are concentrating at this time: on the ground, in the courtyard, tickets stained with blood would have been found. Above, something written in ballpoint pen that may have been printed by the killer. Perhaps a message for Daniele and Eleonora, perhaps some personal correspondence lost in the excitement of the escape.
