His daughter Hafsa, only 15 years old, was swallowed by the waters of the Adda river in Sondrio on September 1, while trying to cross it to reach a small beach. Her body has yet to be found. He, the father, was in Morocco on September 1. And since he returned, he has cycled to the river every day, diving and looking for his daughter. A heartbreaking scene, immortalized by a video posted on Facebook.
“I contacted the police to tell them that I am still looking for her,” the father told ‘La Provincia di Sondrio’. “I have to thank the investigators, who certainly did a good job – added the man – but could not find my daughter.” And I can’t stop looking for it. I am working hard to find him and I hope there is someone who wants to be available to help me. I approach the river, sometimes I also enter it, staying close to the shore. I can swim well and I don’t want to take chances, but I hope to find Hafsa, who may be stranded somewhere. Or I hope to be there when the river returns it. I can’t stay home and wait. “
They told him that the searches are dangerous, that the river is treacherous, although the water level is much lower these days than it was ten days ago. “Adda to the Bartesaghi park: it is very dangerous but he does not agree to go out. She was afraid – wrote the man who recorded the video on Facebook, explaining that she posted it in the hope that someone will help this desperate father – A family member (on the bank with me) called her continuously, but to no avail. I fear for him. You have to convince her to give up ”.
The so-called “massive” searches have been completed for a few days: the entire Adda river from Sondrio to Lake Como has been searched, the Ardenno basin has also been emptied, but there is no trace of the girl. These days, however, firefighters, in rubber boats and on foot, still check the river, the ravines, the places where you could be trapped.
