Of the 34 million doses exported, 9.1 million ended up in the UK, 954,000 in the US and 3.9 million in Canada. Bloomberg cites a document on shipments made through March 9, “distributed to ambassadors in the EU.” In total, exports involved 31 countries and authorized export requests were 249 out of 258.
If confirmed, the Bloomberg news sheds new light on the missed dose deliveries that characterized the first quarter and which primarily concerned AstraZeneca. Not only that: it would be the confirmation of the suspicions of the EU that deciding to export vaccines to non-European countries are commercial reasons.
