It is a troubled night that promises to be one for many inhabitants of the Castelli Romani, especially for those who are between Lariano, Velletri, Rocca Priora and surroundings. After 3 tremors recorded between 14 and 14.27, shortly after midnight the earth shook again, and always with its epicenter in Lariano (exactly at midnight the seismographs registered a magnitude of 2.1 on the Richter scale).
The shock that most frightened citizens, however, arrived shortly after 00.52, and with the help of data from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) it was quantified with a 2.8, with an epicenter 4 kilometers to the north. -West of Lariano, right in the woods that separate the town that today has just celebrated its 53rd birthday from the Tuscolana and Pratoni del Vivaro area (it was the third clash, as it was preceded by another 2.1 at midnight and 46 minutes).
The 2.8 earthquake lasted a few seconds, but it was also clearly felt in Genzano, Frascati, Rocca di Papa, San Cesareo and most of the Alban hills (a territory that has always been seismic), also because it was located at a depth of only 9 km.
There were those who, out of fear, took to the streets for fear of new earthquakes of a certain consistency, since the 6 tremors clearly suggest a seismic swarm that is taking place in the area. A not peaceful night, the one that awaits the citizens of Larian, already worried by the news of the big fire broke out in via di Cori.
We recall that the INGV maps show the seismic activity of the area at different time intervals. The data shown on this map comes from analyzes carried out in real time by the staff of the INGV’s Seismic Room immediately after the earthquake.
The location parameters (hypocentral coordinates and magnitude) are the best estimate that can be obtained with the data held by the INGV and are constantly updated according to the additional data that is available.
The data is subsequently reviewed by seismological analysts and therefore the location and magnitude parameters may vary. All the information of the reviewed events converges in the Italian Seismic Bulletin of the INGV.
