The CTS meets in the morning to evaluate new interventions at the request of the government. Palazzo Chigi’s request to scientists highlights “the progressive change in the epidemiological framework” and urges an indication “on the need to implement measures to mitigate and contain the virus.” Last Friday, after having analyzed the weekly monitoring, it was the Higher Institute of Health that considered stricter rules “essential” to counteract “the sustained increase in the circulation of some viral variants with greater transmissibility.”

The assumptions on the table

Another hypothesis that is being worked on is the closure of businesses where schools are closed. The objective is to prevent children from doing the lessons of the cases in dad in the morning and in the afternoon they are dumped in the shopping centers, with the risk of contagion. The possibility of reinforcing the red band in areas where the English and Brazilian variant is more widespread is not excluded. In the worst case, the curfew in these areas could be brought forward at 7:00 p.m. Another option is a generalized closure when the 30,000 daily infections are exceeded throughout the national territory.

Tension of the majority on the general hypothesis of confinement

In the next few hours there could be a new control room, ahead of the new meeting on Thursday with the regions, which will address the issues of distribution, logistics and administration of vaccines. And the new measures will also be discussed in light of the CTS meeting. In the majority there is tension over the hypothesis of generalized confinement, which for the moment, however, no one would have clearly put on the table. Matteo Salvini makes explicit the opposition of the League: “Closing now without vaccines is useless for anyone or anything.” Berlusconi, on the other hand, realistic, according to which “the season of sacrifices is not over and the data does not allow us to lower our guard.”

Italy increasingly red or orange

With the new tracking, most regions should end in the red and orange band (only Sicily and perhaps Valle d’Aosta and Liguria could remain in yellow) and therefore the most restrictive measures will be activated, with the closure of restaurants as well. . for lunch, in orange, and shops, in red. Meanwhile, from March 8, Frosinone is in the red zone, while from the 10th there will be the provinces of Pesaro Urbino and Fermo, which join those of Ancona and Macerata and bring almost all the Marches in red, and Viareggio .
