In the province of Palermo the alarm of the third wave of Coronavirus sounds: the positives are on the rise and more and more patients with Covid-19 symptoms appear in the emergency room. The data, collected in the article by Fabio Geraci in the Giornale di Sicilia newsstands, speak of a trend of new positives that since December 27 has never dropped below 180 units.
The number of occupied beds in hospitals also increases: In the afternoon, there were 31 patients in the emergency area of the Covid del Cervelló Hospital, three of whom were waiting to be examined, with an overcrowding rate of 155 percent. Similar numbers were also recorded on New Year’s Day when there were about thirty people and some ambulances waiting outside in the emergency room.
A situation partially confirmed by Enzo Massimo Farinella, director of the Infectious Diseases operating unit of the Cervello hospital and member of the regional technical-scientific committee: in his room, of the 42 available beds, 38 are already occupied.
