Long lead times for Johnson & Johnson deliveries
Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the United States is likely to enter the dosing schedule later than expected. According to New York TimesOfficials in the Biden administration have suppressed enthusiasm after the FDA approved the Covid vaccine last weekend, warning that expected deliveries in March will be particularly erratic. The $ 1 billion contract between the US government and the pharmaceutical company provides for the total delivery of 100 million doses by June. Of these, however, only 3.9 million will arrive this week, while no deliveries are planned for the following week. However, as of the end of March, the company has promised to supply 37 million doses of the vaccine. The first doses will come from the Netherlands plant, but the others will have to be produced at the Baltimore plant, which is still under construction.
