The contagion curve rises again in Piacenza. In the week between December 21 and December 27, there was a 28 percent increase in positives from the previous week. There were a total of 735 cases, compared to 575 in the previous period. The relationship between new positives and swabs performed also increased.
But these are not the only indicators that are registering an increase: the values of isolated people and deaths are also increasing. “As was our fear, these data – says the CEO Luca baldino – refers to the period when we were back in the yellow zone and people had more freedom to move. It was foreseeable that we would see a new resurgence of infections. Therefore, the invitation can only be to pay maximum attention to compliance with the rules on the next vacation. During the New Year, in particular, we ask our fellow citizens not to create situations that could again favor the circulation of the virus. What happened last week can be considered an alarm that reminds us all that we must be cautious ”.
Here are the other data for the week in detail
In the week of December 21-27, 9082 swabs were made, of which 6039 were molecular and 3043 antigenic (“rapid tests”). The ratio between new positives and swabs performed is 8% (12% considering only molecular swabs). For comparison, the previous week 11,780 swabs had been performed (7,585 molecular tests and 4195 antigenic tests) and the proportion was 4.9% (7.6% considering only molecular swabs).
Of the 735 new positives, 348 (47%) had symptoms: the previous week the percentage of symptoms was 55%. Most of the new positives were identified through contact tracing activities (350 people, 48% of the total); 180 (24%) were identified after symptom reports and by the Usca, 71 (10%) were diagnosed in the emergency room or hospital, 60 (8%) after detection in the Cra; 50 (7%) in the private laboratory and 24 (3%) swabs in other settings.
The number of people in fiduciary domiciliary stay rises again, from 2,386 to 2,992.
Of these, 1209 are positive for Covid and 1783 are close contacts or people who have returned from risk areas; last week they were 1,092 and 1,294 respectively. Research activity involving schools is still quite important. The cases diagnosed involving students and teaching and support staff were 165, involving 43 classes. In 26, more than one case was observed.
During the week, Usca teams made 644 home accesses (-55 compared to the previous week), of which 8 in the structure (+3 compared to the previous week).
The data in the hospital, on the other hand, is stable, overlapping the previous week: on average 229 people were hospitalized for Covid, of which 14 in intensive care. Finally, there were 39 deaths.
