BARI – An agreement was signed between general practitioners and the Puglia region for vaccination against Covid for disabled and frail people over 80 years old.
This is confirmed by Francesco Pazienza, regional secretary of the Italian doctors union (Smi). The agreement was signed this morning and establishes that, depending on the number of vaccines available, as of March 15, even family doctors will be able to vaccinate the population.
The administrations will be carried out at home for disabled people over 80 years of age, while for fragile patients in the clinics or facilities made available to the Local Health Authorities.
For the so-called fragile, the Puglia region expects to start in late March, early April. Now, healthcare companies will have to enlist the support of doctors and then there will be a training course.
FIMMG – Doctors will call their patients, according to the priorities defined by the national vaccine plan.
“Family medicine has been available from the beginning, even on a voluntary basis for the vaccination campaign. Today’s agreement defines the logistical and operational aspects, as was the case “, comments Donato Monopoli, Secretary of Fimmg Puglia.
“We call on all citizens not to call their doctor, to avoid forcing clinics to answer phone calls. Time is especially valuable at this time. Therefore, we ask everyone to wait patiently: your Your doctor will contact you based on nationally defined priority criteria. “
