01/01/2021 – The Marche Region adopted the Regional Strategic Plan for Sars CoV-2 vaccination. During the last 2020 meeting of the Board of Directors (the one on December 31), at the proposal of the councilor for health Filippo Saltamartini, the executive implemented the national strategic plan and approved the regional one, with the territorial articulation of ministerial indications.

He also approved the agreement with the union organizations: general practitioners will carry out vaccination in residential centers for the elderly.

“The agreement with family doctors for the administration of vaccines – says councilor Filippo Saltamartini – is one more step to strengthen local medicine, essential to face the next months of the pandemic.” According to national guidelines, the vaccination campaign will start in January 2021 and will be divided into three phases. In the first one, health and social-health workers, guests and staff of nursing homes, senior citizens will participate: an audience of 176,036 potential interested parties who, if they wish, may be vaccinated (23,306 health and social-health workers, 16,319 among RSA staff and guests, 133,411 seniors over the age of eighty). The second phase will refer to people over 60 years of age, people of all ages with “comorbidities”, teachers and school personnel. It will also involve workers in essential services and sectors at risk (prisons, community places). The third and final phase will be reserved for the remaining population.

All stages of the plan will be calibrated to the real needs that will arise, such as the amount of vaccine available, the adherence of the categories involved, the logistical aspects related to the cold chain for the transport and storage of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine (commercialized with Comirnaty Denomination).

In a first phase, the vaccine will be administered directly in hospitals and, through mobile units, in residential facilities for the elderly (with the participation of general practitioners). Regional vaccine storage points (Hubs) have already been identified. There are seven of them, they will coincide with the administration point, or they will function as classifiers for the other administration assistants (such as health centers and RSA), preserving the cold chain. It is estimated that the seven Hubs will be able to vaccinate 42,625 people (between the personnel involved and the facilities for the elderly), through vaccination teams made up of 42 health personnel and 43 support personnel. In Fossombrone it is assumed that 8,200 people will be vaccinated, 5,538 in the Ancona Arca, the Jesi Hub will take care of 11,445, that of Civitanova Marche 4,275, Camerino 4,305, Fermo 3,812, Ascoli Piceno 5,050. Each Hub is equipped with two low temperature coolers.

Together with the seven regional poles, the Plan provides for a greater territorial articulation with respect to the existing vaccination centers that are usually used by users. This is to cope with a series of vaccines that are expected to exceed the standard. In addition to public and private hospital vaccination points (for health and social-health workers), territorial vaccination (for non-hospital health workers), in a residential facility (for employees and guests), the population vaccination points will be activated in the third phase: in practice the “massive” already tested in our region during the screening. Then, the Plan foresees the monitoring of adverse effects, the evaluation of the immune response induced by the vaccine, the launch of an information campaign (national, but with regional support).
