In the last week (November 16-22) Ancona and its province had a higher number of cases, with an average of 143 per day against 132 in Macerata. But if we calculate the weekly incidence of infections per 100,000 inhabitants, which measures the real density of spread of the virus, the classification is reversed, with the province of Macerata (314,178 inhabitants) in 294 cases and Anconetano (471,238 inhabitants). to 213. The epidemic has a more contained spread in the other three provinces: Pesaro Urbino, the most affected during phase 1, last week had a daily average of 87 new positives, with 170 positives per 100,000 inhabitants, Fermo had fewer Pesaro cases (on average 49 per day), but a higher incidence (196 per 100,000 inhabitants), while Ascoli Piceno has stabilized at an average of 46 per day and has 155 positives per 100,000 inhabitants during the week .
A trend that is also highlighted in the latest report on the epidemiological situation published by the Higher Institute of Health, relating to the week of November 9-15. It is enough to look at the colors on the maps, which represent the common situation by municipality with different color intensities, to understand that Ancona in the reference period was the city with the most cases in the region (blue). But in the snapshot that measures the spread of the virus per 100,000 inhabitants, in that week Macerata has a more intense red color intensity, therefore a higher incidence of cases, compared to Ancona. And the brightest shade, almost purple, covers the territory of some small towns of Fermano (such as Magliano di Tenna and Monsampietro Morico) with few inhabitants and therefore more susceptible to peaks in incidence even without too many cases, but also some municipalities fairly populated inland Ancona. Like Maiolati Spontini, Belvedere Ostrense and above all Filottrano, 9,079 inhabitants, who as of November 13 had 142 positive assets among the neighbors, as reported by Mayor Lauretta Giulioni in one of her recurring calls on the population to keep distance and caution.
The number of victims since the beginning of the epidemic (26,755 infections in Marche) now places the province of Ancona in the lead (8,009), followed by Macerata (5,949), Pesaro (5,372), Ascoli Piceno (3,484) and Fermo (3.123). But it must be said that in phase 1, when the epidemic had mainly affected the northern area of Marche and in particular Pesaro Urbino, the infection data was greatly underestimated, because the swabs were made only to the sick and not all submerged asymptomatic patients emerged. . The epidemic of the last week has slowed down, but yesterday’s figure must be taken with caution due to the few tests carried out. However, with 161 positives out of 633 early swabs, the positive percentage drops to 25.4 compared to 29.5 the day before.
