The statements of President Michele Emiliano
Puglia goes to the yellow zone. This means that our health system has withstood the wave that only in the month of November generated 35,000 new infections, when in the entire first wave there were just over 4,000.
It was maintained thanks to the programming carried out in the hospital network, which allowed us to expand the beds as we needed them, multiplying the intensive care units dedicated to covid patients, the medical area and the so-called post-acute beds.
It is undoubtedly an encouraging sign to be among the Italian regions classified in the yellow zone, but this does not mean at all that the danger is overcome: we must always keep our attention high and respect the prevention rules, because the virus circulates and goes through everyone the senses. content, as indicated by the Higher Institute of Health due to the still high number of infections. The pain remains for an absolutely high number of deaths and we are not consoled by the fact that we are on average with the other Italian regions.
We are in the yellow zone above all thanks to the health organization that, despite having so many things to improve and correct, by virtue of the extraordinary work of men and women who have not had respite for 9 months, has allowed Apulia to have a similar evolution so far. to that of other Italian regions with a health system stronger than ours.
Supporting the impact of covid with thousands of fewer personnel whose hiring is still not allowed today and with hundreds of millions of euros less that the national health system does not provide us is really a business. But Puglia, as you can see, never gave up.
