The great change in the national health system, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, has required equally deep adaptations in the university training of nurses and in particular in the way of discussing degree theses. Faced with the exceptional state of exception, the Terni scientific and educational center, which is part of the University of Perugian, has advanced the graduation days to make new professionals available. As already happened last March, the Terni Order of Nurses was quickly activated to allow all recent graduates to enroll in the professional register, so that they can begin to practice the profession of support and support. colleagues in this grave time of difficulty.

Two graduation sessions
The graduation sessions, two in total and chaired by Professor Stefano Brancorsini, were held by videoconference in compliance with the new government regulations. The students, about thirty, after having taken the state qualification examination for the exercise of the profession, brilliantly debated their degree thesis. The examining commission, made up of members of the University of Perugia and representatives of the Order of Nursing Professions of Terni in the figures of Emanuela Ruffinelli (rector), Federica Fraschini (vice), Mariano De Persio (councilor), withdrew at the special virtual classroom to evaluate the two tests and unanimously agree on the evaluation to be attributed.
Grade within the walls of the house
Upon returning to the public virtual classroom, the president of the commission proclaimed to the graduates with the solemn words: “By the powers conferred on us by the Rector of the University of Perugia, we proclaim you a Doctor of Nursing with the vote of …” . And several were the 110 and praise. Simple ceremonies, which were carried out within the walls of the house, in front of a webcam, in a strictly empty room, without family members applauding and without any friend to open the sparkling wine. The laurel wreath may remain, but the weather was surreal. This is how the discussions of the thesis develop in the era of the coronavirus. The coveted completion of the curriculum is certainly not what recent graduates had dreamed of.

The wish of the IPO
The Order of Nursing Professions of Terni “wishes that young colleagues, doctors in nursing, always have the availability and the will to transform their experiences into something constructive that enriches their professional background, to face, always with a plus, comprehensive assistance, global and personalized ”.
